Popular zoophile flags

From Paraphilia+ Flags Wiki

Zoophilia is primarily defined as an attraction of a human towards nonhuman animals. Currently the zoophile community uses multiple flags to represent itself. The ones that resonated with it the most are gathered here.

The 2016 flag

The 2016 zoo flag

Origins

This flag was made at some point before June 24, 2016, by a feline therian and a furry artist. A permission to share her username hasn't yet been obtained. But, according to one of her posts, the colors of the flag represent genders of the zoos: blue stands for binary male and female genders, white stands for genders outside of the binary spectrum, and purple stands for nonbinary genders on the male/female spectrum.

It was uploaded to DeviantArt by a user ZooFlags, an aego-zoosexual and zooromantic trans demigirl therian[1][2]. The date of upload is June 24, 2016[3]. For a long time ZooFlags was considered the original creator of this flag.

Influence

This flag became the most popular flag out of all uploaded by ZooFlags and is used by zoos in artwork and on social media profiles. A Twitter blogger ZooStruggles erroneously claimed this flag to represent pro-contact zoophiles, while no such thing was specified by the original artist.

ZETA zoo flags

One of the most common ZETA flags

ZETA zoophile flags are flags, representing the ZETA movement. The ZETA movement is a political movement of zoophiles with a large emphasis on romantic love, legalizing human/animal sex, and rejecting ties of zoophilia with other paraphilias[4].

Origins

The first version of the ZETA flag, without the star, was created during a project run by a Twitter ZETA activist KZ in spring of 2020. In mid April he made several polls about the potential flag design[5][6], and his followers voted. On May 3 he announced a version that won[7]. According to his explanation[8], the brown color represents land animals, the green represents avians, reptiles & amphibians, and the blue represents marine life. The exact hues of the flag were chosen by SteelDogTuscy, another Twitter blogger. The four pointed star was an initiative of another Twitter user, KometSF, who proposed it in reference to four-legged animals[9]. Coloring it white indicates purity[10].

According to KZ, he started this project because he could not find a prior zoo flag[11].

Influence

Due to the ZETA movement's active involvement in the zoophile community building, these flags are often regarded as the official zoo flags[12], especially on Twitter.

Alef zoo flag

The alef zoo flag

The alef zoo flag, also referred to as "aleph zoo flag" or "leaf zoo flag", is the newest flag in this list.

Origins

This flag was created by Saturn during the fediverse zoo flag project (2023). The purpose of the project was to give a symbol and a name to zoophiles who feel unfairly treated and excluded by the zeta community. The flag is explicitly inclusive of multiple types of zoophiliac orientations, including zoosadism.

Influence

The flag's inclusivity was very negatively received by the ZETA community and highlighted the problem of anti-map and anti-sadist bias.
